<p>Your abdominal muscles, otherwise known as your abs, are extremely important in your physical health. Your abdominal muscles are at the very core of your body and can help the rest of your body stay healthy. Studies have shown that those with a &#8220;spare tire&#8221; around their waist are more likely to get health related medical illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and others than those without that spare tire hanging around. </p>
<p>Studies have also shown that those with strong abdominal muscles are less likely to suffer from a back injury. This is because your abs are strong and by working your abs, you are usually working your back muscles at the same time and you might not even know it! You can even improve your posture with strong abs. </p>
<p>1) Description of the various ab muscles &#8211; You have more than one ab muscle in your torso. There are six abdominal muscles in your body. On the sides you have what are called your internal and external obliques. You also have transverses abdominis, which actually goes all around the front of your stomach to your back. There is also the rectus abdominis, which is right in the middle and lower parts of your abdominis. When you see someone with a &#8220;six pack&#8221; that is their rectus abdominis.  There are muscles that actually help your spinal cord that are called spinal flexors. </p>
<p>2) Exercises that target each area &#8211; Crunches are the first obvious exercise to help you lose weight and gain muscle in your ads. Crunches only target your front abs and not your &#8220;spare tire&#8221; abs or obliques. To target your obliques, you can do crunches, but instead of coming up straight, move to the side with your elbow touching the opposite knee. To get that spare tire muscle, you can do what I call reverse crunches. You lay on your stomach, put your arms down at your sides and pull your head, shoulders and chest off of the floor. You will feel it working mostly in your lower back. </p>
<p>3) Dieting strategies &#8211; Your diet can have a direct effect on your midsection. Foods with a lot of saturated fat, carbohydrates (that you don&#8217;t use) and other things can create that spare tire look around your waist. Drinking beer can have a huge effect on your stomach. First, you should choose a good multivitamin that you can take daily. Stay away from beer, potatoes and other fattening foods. Stick with a healthy variety of foods and drink lots of water. </p>
<p>To get the best abs you can, you need to maintain your complete program, including your diet, resistance training, supplement, weight training and aerobics or cardio. All of these truly help you create great ab muscles and keep your core healthy and strong. If you want that great six-pack-ab look and feel, you need to maintain all of these components of your health regimen.</p>

<p>There is a misconception floating around the internet, within the walls of chatty homes, and gliding down the sidewalks alongside the misinformation highway &#8212; that misconception? You have to gain weight in order to build muscle. </p>
<p> Many people mistakenly believe that muscle weighs more than fat; this is simply untrue. This fallacy is destroyed by simple logic &#8212; ten pounds equals ten pounds, whether it is fat, muscle, gold, or water. To be fair, though &#8212; five cubic inches of muscle would weigh more than five cubic inches of fat; however, this does not mean that muscle weighs more than fat. </p>
<p> Some women, and men as well, are afraid of working out and building muscle because they think that they have to gain weight in order to do so. However, such fears are not founded on sound facts. They believe that if they head to the gym, lift weights, or even take part in anything more than a light cardiovascular activity, that they will inevitably increase their weight and &#8220;bulk up&#8221;. </p>
<p> <a href="http://www.solidbodybuilding.com/" target=_self>muscle building</a> does not have to be all about &#8220;bulking up&#8221;; it can be all about strengthening your body and redefining the way that you look. Let&#8217;s say, for instance, that you are a male, five foot, nine inches tall and weigh one-hundred and seventy-five pounds. <p>Building muscle rapidly can be done if it is done the right way. This won&#8217;t happen overnight. However, if you go about it the right way, it can be accomplished. Some people do not want to take the time because they figure it is just a waste of time but that is not at all true. If you want to build muscle rapidly you will have to work for it but it will be worth it in the end.</p>
<p>There are two different ways to build muscle. You can do your own research to find out what kind of exercises are a good fit for your body, or you can get your own personal trainer to put together a personal training program for you. Personal trainers are very knowledgeable about how to build muscle mass. They are very good at devising a program specifically to meet your needs as well as having the knowledge about building muscle mass.</p>
<p>For you to be able to build muscle mass, your diet has to be full of protein and trade bad carbohydrates and fats for good ones. You must really focus in on finding just the right diet for this to occur. If you do not pay attention to your diet, then you will notice that you will not build muscle very fast.</p>
<p>Many personal trainers also have the knowledge to help you with the right diet for you. There are some good supplements out there, but please discuss this with your trainer before investing in such products.</p>
<p>Keep your workout time short. I know this does not sound right, but it is. Working out for long periods will only exhaust you and not help matters. Also taking a day off between workouts is a good idea. This gives your muscles and your body time to heal in-between. Your workout plan needs to be a quality workout instead of a quantity workout for you to reap the rewards of <a href="http://www.solidbodybuilding.com/" target=_self>muscle building</a>.</p>
<p>The downside to using a personal trainer is that they are expensive and you are restricted to a certain time you must meet with them. While a personal trainer is your best option there are some great programs that are just like having a personal trainer by your side.</p>

<p>Bodybuilding isn&#8217;t just an endeavor to gain mass and develop muscles nor is it a flashy showcase of developed abs, arms or legs. There&#8217;s more to bodybuilding than to what the others plainly perceive the entire idea of training.</p>

From the very beginning of bodybuilding up to the last stage of development, goal setting is an important factor in achieving what results a <a href="http://www.solidbodybuilding.com/" target=_self>bodybuilder</a> truly wants. </p>
<p>It is important that a bodybuilding trainee doesn&#8217;t forget that he is in the process of accomplishing this training because lack of realistic and achievable could cause only a blur, a dream that seems so distant from reality. In achieving a realistic goal, there has to be a successful output for each training session. The results should improve one step better from the last training because it&#8217;s one way how a set goal can be achieved; little by little. There&#8217;s no also point in burning oneself to achieve a desirable within a short amount of time since this will only result to frustration and total burnout.</p>
<p>Another thing a bodybuilder should consider is the commitment and enthusiasm for every bodybuilding training session. Without the two, there wouldn&#8217;t be any positive drive for the person to follow in pursuing bodybuilding trainings each day. Also, the commitment to something, in this case, the bodybuilding training, helps in keeping the bodybuilder stick to schedule and mentally, there is the interest to keep up with it. </p>
<p>Enthusiasm on the other hand is a positive mood which is ideal to be brought to each training sessions. With enthusiasm comes energy and vigor and this certainly helps the body and mind to perform what&#8217;s its needed to do whereas when the mood of the trainee is low, weak, there&#8217;s no point in setting and achieving the goals set. </p>
<p>These three are just a part of the positive fundamentals a person should have for bodybuilding exercises since these helps develop a positive attitude towards work.</p>

<p>Try and name a sport that you can participate in even if you are an old person. Chances are, you will have a hard time naming even one. But if you named bodybuilding, you are dead on right.</p>
<p>Bodybuilding is the art and science of developing the musculature of your body via certain kinds of physical exertion and diet whose end goal is to showcase the body for competitive exhibition. The most popular kind of <a href="http://www.solidbodybuilding.com/" target=_self>bodybuilding</a> exercise is weightlifting or weight training.</p>
<p>What makes bodybuilding so appealing is that it is a sport that everyone of any age can participate in. The only requirements are that one be in relatively good physical condition, has access to gym equipment, and can financially afford the lifestyle it demands.</p>
<p>What are the different types of bodybuilding workouts? Well, it depends first on whether your body type is that of an ectomorph, endomorph or mesomorph.</p>
<p>An ectomorph is considered the slow gainer among bodybuilding types. He needs to slow down his hyper metabolism in order to gain muscle size and strength. This means his exercise routine should be severe enough to trigger muscle growth yet short enough to avoid nervous drain.</p>
<p>An endomorph, on the other hand, has a sluggish metabolism. He needs some kind of stimulating exercise every session in order to rev up his metabolism. Also, an endomorph should restrict his calorie intake due to an over-efficient digestive system that makes him gain weight easily.</p>
<p>The luckiest among the body types (as far as bodybuilding is concerned) is the mesomorph. A true mesomorph is able to gain muscle even with little effort on his part. Mesomorphs can be said to be gifted with muscle-building abilities, the Chosen People of bodybuilding.</p>
<p>No one belongs solely to one body type. Most people can be said to be a mixture of the three. However, one body type usually dominates a person&#8217;s build so that it is relatively easy to categorize <a href="http://www.solidbodybuilding.com/" target=_self>bodybuilders</a>.</p>
<p>Despite one&#8217;s body type, there are common techniques to follow when bodybuilding. These are:</p>
<p>1. Keep a training diary so that you can monitor your progress and determine what you should aim for in the future.</p>
<p>2. Pay attention when lifting any kind of weight to avoid injury. Carelessness is probably the foremost cause of injuries in bodybuilding.</p>
<p>3. Choose the types of exercises that can contract as many muscle fibers as possible during one set. This will maximize the effectiveness of the core repetitions which make up most of one&#8217;s training.</p>
<p>4. Warm up properly prior to doing any exercise to prevent injury.</p>
<p>5. Don&#8217;t change the technique of doing any exercise unless you know what you are doing. Experimenting is another cause of injury.</p>
<p>6. Don&#8217;t do those exercises which are known to cause tendon or joint damage.</p>
<p>7. Good exercise style prevents injury. So keep proper form while exercising.</p>
<p>8. Learn to distinguish between the pain caused by lactic acid build-up within the muscle, and the pain caused by a serious injury. Mistaking one for the other could cause you to keep exercising despite being injured, thereby worsening the injury. Rest if you are injured.</p>
